Before we left we each chose something specific that we definitely wanted to do. Dad wanted to go to the Air and Space Museum…all the choices in Washington DC and that was his number #1 pick.
Unlce Tholly was in the Air Force. He always wanted to fly planes but did not actually get to because of his eyesight.
My mom grew up in Napier Field near Dothan. She had a runway in her backyard.
My dad works for O'Neal Steel. They built these bombs in the early years of the company.
My Uncle Verbon was in the Navy. He was stationed in Alaska during part of his deployment. He had a visit from a Red Cross representative during that time who asked him to please write to his mother becuase she was continually calling the Red Cross to let them know that she had not received a letter from her son recently.
My greatgrandparents lived near Huntsville, Alabama where launcher was originally tested. My dad says that he specifically remembers the sound of the blasts and the ground shaking during the tests while visiting his grandparents when he was young.
Mom wanted to go to the National Cathedral. It was breathtaking. We went on a guided tour with one of the docents and learned so much about the history of the cathedral.
There are several smaller chapels throughout the cathedral with various dedications
This chapel is meant to honor service men and women. The book at the front of the chapel on the right contains the names of all the men and women who served in World War II, including my grandfather Iley Fred Kent, Sr. who served in the US Army.

Tim Russert's OfficeKevin didn’t really have one thing that he definitely wanted to do. This trip was really his idea from the beginning. He’s been talking about wanting to go to DC for several years now. I’m glad he finally got the chance to go!
We learned very quickly on Friday morning that everything on the Mall is not nearly as close together as it seems in pictures or on TV. It is a 2 mile walk from the Capitol Building to the Lincoln Memorial.
I chose to go to the Nationals game. They were playing the Mets our first night there.

Getting to experience the 4th of the July in the nation’s capital is such a great experience. Independence Parade on Constitution Avenue to firework over the Washington Monument should be on everyone’s “Must Do” List!

Her husband trusts her completely. She gives him the important things he needs. She brings him good, not harm, all the days of her life.
She chooses wool and flax. She loves to work with her hands. She is like the ships of traders. She brings her food from far away. She gets up while it is still dark. She provides food for her family. She also gives some to her female servants.
She considers a field and buys it. She uses some of the money she earns and plants a vineyard. She gets ready to work hard. Her arms are strong. She sees that her trading her lots of money.
Her lamp doesn’t go out at night. With one hand she holds the wool. With the other she spins the thread
She opens her arms to those who are poor. She reaches her hand out to those who are needy. When it snows, she’s not afraid for her family. All of them are dressed in the finest clothes. She makes her own bed coverings. She is dressed in fine linen and purple clothes.
Her husband is respected at the city gate. He takes his seat among the elders of the land.
She makes linen clothes and sells them. She supplies belts to the traders.
She puts on strength and honor as if they were her clothes.
She can laugh at the days that are coming. She speaks wisely. She teaches faithfully. She watches over family matters. She is busy all the time.
Her children stand up and call her blessed. Her husband also rises and praises her. He says, “Many women do noble things. But you are better than the others.”
Charm can fool you. Beauty fades. But a woman who has respect for the Lord should be praised. Give her the reward the she has earned. Let everything she does bring praise to her at the city gate. 
Emma’s mom Mary is my cousin. I was Mary’s Maid of Honor when she and Jimmy were married almost 4 years ago. We have been very close ever since we were little girls and I am so excited now to have Emma a part of our lives. She was an angel during the service. I can’t wait to see the professional pictures from the church.
I love having Jimmy as my fousin (fake cousin). From the time I met him I knew that he and Mary were meant to be and I am so glad that he is a part of our family. There are so many things that I love about Jimmy, he is very kind, has a great sense of humor and will do anything for his friends and family; but I have to admit that one of my favorite is that he is Greek, which means he can cook and I get to enjoy delicious Greek cooking either from him or going to the Greek Food Festival every year! Hummus is a personal favorite but I really l love it all!
